Cross-Colleges Adviser, Melissa Fike (she/her)

Melissa Fike

About Me:

My passion for possibility, exploration, learning, and holistic well-being is what led me to my work in Higher Education. As a first-gen student without stable family support, my time at university taught me how to take care of myself, carve my own path, and that the world is so much bigger than I ever could have imagined. Each of us has a story of how we have come to be who we are and how we engage in the world; and the story is ever-evolving. I believe that my job is to help you tune into your voice and craft your educational journey at UCSC and beyond.

As an advisor, I take a collaborative and holistic approach focused on empowerment, discovery, and overcoming barriers to your success- academic or otherwise. I am a strong proponent of experiential learning, active exploration, and self reflection. My professional career has included work in academic success coaching, residence life, education abroad, and learning communities. My personal loves include hiking, environmentalism, spending hours at the beach, making art and music, drinking way too much coffee, and spending ample time with my pit-mix, Luna. I look forward to meeting you!
