Peer Adviser, Maria Fernanda Alcantara Ornelas

About Me:

I am passionate about being an Oakes peer adviser because I have the opportunity to help others and contribute to the betterment of our Oakes community. This position allows me to make little, but significant changes that create a more welcoming space for my peers. As a first-generation college student, I know what it is like to have to navigate this insitution, that was not designed with us in mind, on my own and learn by trial and error. As a result, I enjoy serving others as a guide and as a helping hand on their endeavors of pursuing a higher education.

I want to pursue a law degree in Immigration and Domestic Violence, or Criminology. I love listening and dancing Latin music, volunteering and watching movies based on real life stories.
