About Me:

I am committed to helping students be successful in college and to find an academic and career path that best suits them.  I teach a course that introduces students to biological research, BIOL 88: Research Deconstruction. Before deciding to get my PhD., I spent 2 years in medical school:  I am not a doctor, but I know something about getting into and going to medical school.  I also teach several courses that cater to the interests of students with an interest in healthcare careers.  In addition, I teach molecular biology.

I remember what it was like to be a freshman in college. I didn't feel like I belonged, that I was capable of doing well in my classes, or even what was expected of me. I would like to help beginning students in the sciences understand how to be successful and to offer them resources that will help them explore their academic interests.

By providing students a chance to talk with a faculty member, and in doing so, I hope to encourage them to make the most of their academic opportunities in college. I will also alert students to classes that might match their interests, faculty research opportunities, summer internships, etc.

Some Advice:

Get started early! Physical and Biological Science majors require many lower division courses. It is important to be aware of the declaration policy of your desired major and to insure that you can meet it.
